Custom Wooden Ships' Wheels

SSBW has been designing and building traditional wooden wheels since 1977.

Each wheel is handcrafted using the finest tropical hardwoods and finished by hand with a high gloss varnish. The wheels are built around a highly polished bronze or chrome plated hub with decorative engraving. A truly custom boat deserves a one-of-a-kind shipswheel.

These exquisite wheels range from 6 to 10 spoke wheels and are fabricated using a variety of wood types including teak, holly, ebony and mahogany.

We made the wheel for the Catriona, a 57' Herreshoff Bounty design, pictured on the right.
