Custom Wooden Ships' Wheels
SSBW has been designing and building traditional wooden wheels since
1977.
Each wheel is handcrafted using the finest tropical hardwoods such as teak
and mahogany with ebony and holly accents and finished by hand with a high
gloss varnish. The wheels are built around a highly polished bronze or chrome
plated hub with decorative engraving. A truly custom boat deserves a one of a
kind shipswheel.
These exquisite wheels range from 6 to 10 spoke wheels and are fabricated using a variety of wood types including Teak, Holly, Ebony and Mahogany.
We made the wheel for the "CATRIONA", a 57' Herreshoff design, built at Brewers Yacht Yard in Plymouth in 2003, pictured on the right.
